Anyone plan on trying this out? I was in a recent beta and it was actually pretty impressive.

Don't have the money to spend 15/month on two different games.

Did look at it some though. The mage talent trees look quite unique and fun to mix 'n match.

I tried the beta for a bit, got out of the start area and was closing some rifts, then got bored and quit.
I assume the game would be alot more fun if I had more people to play it with.
Was playing a Marksman/Ranger/Saboteur.


Also, I like how it encourages you to subspec... As in you can only put so many points into a tree per level and you end up having more than you can put into one tree.

Yeah, the way they have the talent trees and different specs set up is what caught my attention the most. Four classes seems pretty limited until you see that there are like 8 different talent trees in each, with the ability to go into 3 of them in one spec.

But yeah, I didn't really get all that far into the game during my time with it and the quests I've seen are pretty standard MMO stuff. The rift events are pretty neat, though. The devs have also said about half the content in the game is in instances and raids, so it's definitely something I wouldn't want to go into without a good group.

Good timing Shaen! I just played the beta for the first time last night/this morning. Seems like a decent game, the developers make no attempt to hide that the UI and combat mechanics are very much a WOW clone. Makes it easy to pick up. I did buy the game and will try it out in my spare time, you get the first month free with a pre-order. Most likely I'll cancel the subscription by the second month. I'm with Fsob, I can't justify $15/month for a game I don't play too often. I did the same with Star Trek Online. Was good for a month, but got old.

If anybody else is planning on playing it, let me know so we get on the same server.

I'll probably play a cleric, with some kind of dps build at first. I did try out all the main classes up to level 6, but there are many other possibilities I haven't tried yet.

Going to wait until WoW is in a more boring state and Rift is in a more polished state (a few months after release is always nice) to give it a shot.

Not compared to a lot of the other servers, no. The one the Drop Bears happened to pick has had hour queues all day. But the one I've been on hasn't had a queue at all, so it's hard to complain.
